Blackshaw Urban Park
A newly planted woodland, part of a colliery site reclamation as an urban park. Most of the trees are approximately 25 years old, with older, mature trees along the valley of the Blackshaw Beck. There is housing to three sides of the site, and a road to the southern edge of the wood.
Blackshaw Urban Park is situated on the site of a former colliery of which nothing now remains. The woodland is concentrated along the northern and western parts which forms a small valley through which runs the beck. The remainder of the site, which does not include the wood consists of open grassland well used by walkers, cyclists and as a play area
