Hawkstone Wood

Hawkstone occupies a site on the upper slopes of the eastern side of the Aire valley and is one of a number of woods that contribute to a patchwork of woods and meadows typical of the area, this landscape pattern helps to separate the ever expanding settlements of this busy valley. The wood itself slopes quite steeply down from the edge of the escarpment and is approximately rectangular, being longest along the slope. It is a notable feature of the landscape and is visible from the busy B6038 commuter route.
